Vinyl Pressing Cost Calculator

Planning estimate for independent artists and small labels

Model a vinyl pressing budget by separating fixed setup from per-copy manufacturing, packaging, freight, and a contingency. Use a current written quote for your exact format and destination. This tool is an estimate, not a plant quote or a sales forecast. Read the companion guide: Vinyl Pressing Cost Calculator: Estimate a Realistic Run for an Independent Artist.

How to use the estimate

Start with the current scope of a written quote. A standard black 12-inch package and a color gatefold package should not share the same unit input. If the vendor separates cutting, plating, test pressings, sleeves, jackets, assembly, and freight, put each figure into the closest field and keep the quote with your notes.

Run three cases: conservative, likely, and higher cost. Then compare the project total with presales, direct-to-fan demand, live sales, and confirmed store commitments. A lower average cost from a larger run does not automatically make the larger run safer if the extra copies tie up cash and storage.

For a broader release plan, read Indie Label Vinyl Manufacturing and confirm the physical package, audio preparation, delivery schedule, and quality checkpoint before announcing a date.
