Artist Pick and Clips used to look like two ways to put visual or release context on a Spotify artist profile. That comparison needs an update: Spotify's support page says new Clips uploads are no longer available as of June 17, 2026.
As of October 15, 2026, Artist Pick remains a feature artists can manage, while Clips are existing videos that may still appear on the profile. The difference is not simply which format to choose; it is whether the feature is currently open for new publishing.
What Artist Pick does
Artist Pick lets an artist highlight one item near the top of the artist profile. Spotify lists songs, albums, music videos, playlists, concerts, merch, and some podcast content among the eligible items.
An artist or authorized team member can add an image and a short message, then change the Pick when priorities shift. Spotify says a Pick stays live for 180 days unless it is changed sooner; concert and merch Picks can disappear when the event passes, tickets sell out, or an item sells out.
That makes Artist Pick useful as a signpost. It can direct a profile visitor toward a current release, an upcoming show, a playlist, or another eligible destination without asking the artist to create a separate video first.
Spotify's steps for adding and managing the feature are in its current Artist Pick support guide.
What changed with Clips
Spotify's current Clips support page states that new Clips uploads are no longer available as of June 17, 2026. That means an artist should not build a new campaign assuming there will be a fresh Clips upload slot.
Previously uploaded Clips remain live in Spotify for Artists and on Spotify. The support page says they appear in a Video tab on the artist profile, and notes that this rollout is happening gradually.
So Clips have not simply vanished, but their role has changed. For many artists they are existing profile content, not a current publishing option that can be refreshed with another upload.
Pick the feature by the job
Use Artist Pick when the goal is to point profile visitors toward one current priority. A new release, show, merch item, or playlist can work if it is eligible and the destination is ready for fans.
Treat existing Clips as supporting material if they are still visible on your profile. They may add personality or context, but they are not a substitute for an upload workflow that Spotify has closed.
Neither placement guarantees streams, saves, ticket sales, or algorithmic reach. A profile feature is a path for interested listeners to follow; the destination and the release plan still have to do their own work.
A profile update that works now
1. Open your Spotify for Artists profile and confirm what a listener can see in your market. 2. Decide the single action you want a profile visitor to take this week. 3. Set Artist Pick to an eligible item that matches that action, and write a short, specific note. 4. Check any existing Clips in the Video tab if it is available on your profile. 5. Update your bio, links, and profile details so they do not contradict the item you have highlighted. 6. Revisit the Pick after the release moment, tour date, or promotion ends.
The broader Spotify for Artists profile checklist can help with the surrounding profile details. For a track-level visual, review the separate guide to Spotify Canvas.
What to tell fans
If fans still find an older Clip on your profile, keep the surrounding call to action current. A video that points to a past release or expired event can create confusion even if the Clip itself remains available.
For a new moment, use Artist Pick to feature an available destination and make the note clear about what the listener will find there. If you are announcing a release, link to the release page; if you are promoting a show, verify the event and ticket route before pinning it.
Do not promise a new Clips upload unless Spotify reopens that option and updates its support guidance. Platform features can change, so check the current Spotify for Artists help pages before planning a campaign around a specific surface.
The practical difference
Artist Pick is an active profile control for spotlighting one eligible item. Clips are currently a legacy video surface: new uploads stopped on June 17, 2026, while previously uploaded videos remain and are moving to a Video tab.
That is the useful distinction for planning today. Use Artist Pick for what you want to promote now, and use any existing Clips as context rather than assuming they can be newly produced and uploaded.
